You can take portions of dry-roasted cashews from the convenient jar and pack them for easy snacking on hiking trips, road trips, for in the office or any other situation when you're on the move and hunger strikes.
What Are Cashews?
Surprisingly, Member's Mark Lightly Salted Whole Cashews are not actually tree nuts. They grow on a tree and fall from one, but they are actually technically a drupe. A drupe is a stone fruit like a peach or plum. Drupes are fleshy fruits that grow on trees and contain a seed pit in their interior. Inside of that seed pit is what we call a cashew. And it's not just cashews that we call "nuts" but aren't actually "nuts." Other impostor nuts include peanuts, while almonds, walnuts and pecans are technically drupes like cashews are.
What Are the Benefits of Cashews?
These lightly salted cashews contain less sodium than other whole cashews. Having less sodium benefits your health in a variety of ways. Mainly, lower amounts of sodium reduce your risk of developing high blood pressure. Also, these roasted cashew nuts (that aren't actually nuts, technically) contain high amounts of monounsaturated fats. Monounsaturated fats help to reduce your risk of heart disease and can even help you lose weight. Monounsaturated fats also reduce triglyceride levels in your body, which helps people with diabetes better manage their glucose levels. The dry-roasted cashews from Maker's Mark also contain healthy amounts of magnesium and copper. Magnesium helps prevent high blood pressure and also supports healthy muscles and bones. As for copper, it assists in energy production and provides flexibility for your blood vessels, bones and joints. In addition to magnesium and copper, cashews also provide a healthy variety of other minerals: iron, zinc, phosphorus and manganese.
